The Laboratory Technician directs and performs verifiable quality assurance tests on company products, prepares laboratory reports prior to service delivery on location, provides technical support with additive selection and the design of well construction fluids, mentors and coaches assigned personnel. The LT3 is an expert in their subsegment and as such is expected to train and mentor junior personnel.
Responsibilities:
Performs
• Standard quality control testing of well construction fluid systems and additives to verify fluid design.
• Advanced additive selection and design of well construction fluids
• Preparation, operation, maintenance, and calibration of equipment in the
laboratory in accordance with company standards.
• The documentation and reporting of laboratory results.
• Knowledge management queries utilizing InTouch.
• Pre-test and pre-job tasks as needed in preparation for providing analytical
support to actual operations.
• The preparation, operation, maintenance, and calibration of equipment in the laboratory in accordance with company and API standards
Assists
• The Lab Supervisor in ensuring clean, orderly, and safe working conditions in the laboratory and the disposal of laboratory waste according to properly conducted methods.
• The Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Supervisor with additive selection and design of advanced well construction fluid systems.
• The Laboratory Manager and Laboratory Supervisor with the documentation and reporting of laboratory data related to the field testing of new technology.
• Mentors trainees and junior personnel in laboratory operations and procedures.
• Functions as a shift coordinator (if so assigned) with assigned team by ensuring job priorities are closely monitored, communication with SDLs/ESNC/Sales/Management is kept open by messages and/or phone as needed, and testing and reporting tasks are distributed evenly among themselves and the team as requests and samples arrive and tests are completed and require reporting

Progression beyond LT2 is not requisite and is based on location needs.
• Training modules outlined in the Laboratory Technician Interface SCDP for Step-3 to progression
• Required safety training and necessary certifications.
Develops
• The Laboratory Technician Specialist develops expert skills and
understanding of laboratory operations in support of their assigned subsegment.
• The Laboratory Technician Generalist develops expert skills and understanding
of laboratory operations in support of a second sub-segment.
• An advanced understanding of knowledge management tools through the use
of InTouch, LabDB and the Client Support Lab.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
• High school diploma or GED; Associate (2-3 year) diploma/degree, Military Service, Applicable technical experience, (High school plus 2).
• Previous oilfield or laboratory experience required.
• Completion of SCDP requirements
